Jacksonville, FL—Timucuan Ecological and Historic Preserve invites you to the 21th annual Kingsley Heritage Celebration being held on March 16 from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. This free family-friendly event takes visitors back in time through a living history festival.Demonstrations include cooking, weaving, spinning, and planting. Families are invited to help with tasks such as butter churning and cotton ginning, as well as participate in the game of cricket. Musket demonstrations will also occur throughout the day. “This special event has a variety of activities that appeal to all ages” says Superintendent Chris Hughes.
There will also be live artistic expressions of African culture. Nan Nkama Pan- African Drum and Dance Ensemble and Storyteller Cynthia Watts will provide performances steeped in African traditions.
St. George Episcopal Church will offer tours of the historic building and have BBQ lunches for sale in the courtyard. Kingsley Heritage Celebration is free and open to the public.
