The Timucuan Ecological and Historic Preserve which includes Fort Caroline National Memorial and Kingsley Plantation will be closed as of 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 9, 2018, due to the approach of Hurricane Michael. Out of an abundance of caution surrounding the potential for tornadoes, high winds, flooding and hazardous trees, the park is closing. The visitor center and grounds at Fort Caroline National Memorial and Kingsley Plantation will remain closed until safety assessments clear the areas. The Preserve’s natural areas at Cedar Point and the Theodore Roosevelt Area will also be closed to the public. “Potential weather impacts associated with Hurricane Michael are being taken seriously, for the safety of our visitors and employees, Timucuan will be closed until conditions improve” stated Superintendent Chris Hughes.
