Mountainair, NM – Salinas Pueblo Missions National Monument is proud to announce our Superintendent, Lisa Baldwin, has been selected as the recipient of the 2021 Regional Professional Achievement in Archaeological Management Award. The Professional Achievement in Archaeological Management Award is a prestigious, peer-nominated award, and recipients are considered for a national John L. Cotter Award for Excellence in National Park Service Archaeology.

Superintendent Baldwin is being recognized for her contributions to archaeological stewardship in previous positions at both Flagstaff Area National Monuments and Dinosaur National Monument. While in these positions, Superintendent Baldwin brought her strong interpersonal and technical skills to full use for the benefit of the park. She created and maintained new connections and partnerships with academic and non-profit researchers, established stronger working relationships with federally recognized tribes, improved storage conditions for neglected museum collections through partnerships with state agencies and implemented multiple large scale archaeological and research efforts related to grazing management , a long-standing, challenging issue at Dinosaur National Monument. Additionally, she worked with Regional GIS Specialists to create a new cultural resource GIS database, and she developed new baseline resource documentation through additional archaeological surveys, reports, and assessments.

On your next visit to Salinas, please join us in congratulating Superintendent Baldwin on her accomplishments throughout her career with the National Park Service.
