Saint Croix Island International Historic Site is proud to announce the first Junior Ranger day for children. The event will be held this Sunday, August 12, from 1 - 6 pm. at the site, eight miles south of Calais on Rt. 1.

“This is an opportunity for local children to test out, in advance, activities that will be included in the sites first Junior Ranger activity booklet, which is scheduled for publication next Spring,” said Meg Scheid, Park Ranger at the site.

Activities include a maze, word search, crossword puzzle, mad-lib, and more. “All participants will receive an official Junior Ranger Day patch or pin,” added Emmy Brockman, an intern from Delaware Ohio who is developing the booklet. “In return, we ask for feedback on the activities so the final draft of the Junior Ranger activity booklet will be as fun, interactive, and educational as possible.”

Designed to help children understand the history and legacy of the 1604 French settlement on Saint Croix Island, the Jr. Ranger program is a great family activity. Children ages 4-14 are welcome. Parental accompaniment is encouraged. Large groups are encouraged to phone in advance. For information contact Meg Scheid 454-3871.
