Rangers Respond to Incident at South Beach on July 5, 2022

POINT REYES STATION, California – The National Park Service responded to an incident at South Beach July 5, 2022. At approximately 12:30 pm, the park was notified by Marin County Sherriff that an adult male was reported to be unresponsive after being found face down in the surf at South Beach. The individual had been surfing with friends.

Friends pulled the male from the water and began CPR. Rangers responded and took over patient care. A pulse was then detected, and the victim was breathing. The patient was transported to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital via Marin County's Henry 1 helicopter.

In addition to National Park Service rangers, personnel from Marin County Sheriff's Department, Inverness Fire Department, California State Parks, and Marin County Fire Department responded to and assisted with this incident.

There are no further details currently. The incident is under investigation by the National Park Service.
