Point Reyes Station, CA- Point Reyes National Seashore confirms that the body found on Monday, July 19, 2021, was that of Mitra Rasti, a 58-year-old female from San Jose, California.

Rasti was hiking alone when she departed from the Bear Valley trailhead in the early evening of Sunday, July 18. She was reported overdue by a concerned family member later that evening around 10 pm.

After an extensive search by National Park Rangers and Marin County Search and Rescue, Rasti's body was located on a beach near the former location of Arch Rock. With the assistance of Sonoma County Sheriff's Office Henry-1 Helicopter, Rasti’s body was airlifted from the scene.

Cause of death is still under investigation.

"Our deepest condolences go out to the family and friends of Mitra Rasti," said Superintendent Craig Kenkel. "We are all deeply saddened by this outcome."
