On Friday and Saturday, September 7th through 8th, celebrate the skies at the Kaibab Indian Reservation and Pipe Spring National Monument. Everyone is invited to participate. Tribal staff from the Kaibab Band of Paiute Indians and rangers from Pipe Spring National Monument are looking forward to sharing information with visitors under a star-filled sky.

On Friday September 7th, 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM AZ (2:00 PM to 5:00 PM UT), there will be a solar telescope set up at the visitor center. Come and have a close look at the sun and learn some Paiute perspectives about its significance. Interagency Annual Passes will be accepted for monument entry; all others will be $10 per person age 16 and older.

On Saturday September 8th, 7:00 PM AZ (8:00 PM UT) there will be a star party at the tribal campground, 1/4 mile north of the Pipe Spring Visitor Center. Hear traditional Paiute songs sung by tribal members, sip on warm drinks, and munch on fresh cookies. Once darkness falls, attendees will have the opportunity to look at objects through a telescope.

Visitors should bring their own flashlights. No fees will be charged for the evening event.

Pipe Spring National Monument is approximately 21 miles from Kanab, Utah, and 60 miles from St. George, Utah – just off of Arizona Hwy. 389 between the two communities.
