Please join us for all six presentations about the natural or cultural resources of Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore during this “Fireside Chat” series of one hour programs given by Lakeshore staff. Snacks will be served around the warm pot-bellied stove at the Munising Falls Interpretive Center, 1505 Sand Point Road in Munising, located across from the Munising Memorial Hospital.

Tuesday, February 27, 7-8 p.m. at the Munising Falls Interpretive Center. "Who's Knocking at the Door?" This program is about non-native species of the waters of the Great Lakes region, and will be presented by Lora Loope, Aquatic Biologist.

Wednesday, March 7, 7-8 p.m. at the Munising Falls Interpretive Center. "Restoration Activity at the Au Sable Light Station," will be presented by John Ochman, Facility Operations Specialist.

Tuesday, March 13, 7-8 p.m. at the Munising Falls Interpretive Center. “Environmental Leadership at Pictured Rocks” will be a discussion of the lakeshore’s nationally recognized Environmental Leadership program, by Facility Manager Chris Case. Elements covered will be the park's Environmental Management Program, and the Green Energy Parks initiative. Lakeshore examples of solar power, alternative fuels, green purchasing, workplace toxin reduction and environmental Best Management Practices will be highlighted during the program.

Tuesday, March 20, 7-8 p.m. at the Munising Falls Interpretive Center. Biologist Bruce Leutscher will review “Vegetation Communities of Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore.”

Tuesday, March 27, 7-8 p.m. at the Munising Falls Interpretive Center. Park Ranger David Kronk will present a program about the Blast Furnace Era in and around Munising, “The Early Years of Munising – 1796 -1896.”

Tuesday, April 3, 7-8 p.m. at the Munising Falls Interpretive Center. Jerry Belant, Chief of Science and Natural Resources, will discuss “Ecology of Forest Carnivores: Bears, Fishers, and Martens.”
