MUNISING, Mich.- The National Park Service has completed an evaluation of accessibility across Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore—including restrooms, walkways, interpretive exhibits, ranger programs, and other visitor services. Park staff now invite the public to review the draft Accessibility Self‑Evaluation and Transition Plan.

Areas evaluated as part of the plan include Sand Point Beach, the Munising Falls Visitor Center, Miners Castle, Miners Falls, drive-in campgrounds, and numerous other park locations. Print and digital publications were also evaluated as part of the Accessibility Self-Evaluation and Transition Plan. The implementation strategy outlines improvements such as placement of grab bars in restrooms, expansion of accessible parking spaces, and adjustment of slopes on trails and walkways.

Once finalized, the Accessibility Plan will provide a framework to improve universal accessibility of the park’s facilities and services.

The Accessibility Self-Evaluation and Transition Plan can be reviewed here: https://parkplanning.nps.gov/piro_setp
