Associated restoration includes the relocation of the following utilities: water, electric, and communications. Work identified to be completed on the seawalls includes the demolition and replacement of the North Seawall – Center section, removal of the top section and raising the elevation of all other wall sections, performing repairs on the existing structures to remain and extending the South Seawall – West section along Delaware Avenue. The sidewalk along the South Seawall will be replaced and a sidewalk will be added alongside the North Seawall. Work to the stormwater system includes adding a packaged pump system, additional catch basins and pipes will be installed, flap gates will be added to the outlets on the seawall and the site will be regraded in specific locations to facilitate water flow to the drainage utilities.

Superintendent Rowles said “we are excited for the contract solicitation to be open again leading to the start of the construction phase of this project in the spring of 2022 with completion by the end of 2023. This is an important step forward to protecting the park and providing access for visitors enjoyment.”
