Petrified Forest, AZ – To help all understand and enjoy Petrified Forest National Park, experts in their respective fields are being invited to share their knowledge and enthusiasm in a reinvigorated in-park 'speaker series'. Presentations are scheduled for the first Wednesday of every month, and last approximately one hour.

The next speaker of this 'speaker series' is Paul Olsen from Columbia University, lead investigator for a scientific core drilling project beginning in the park November 7. The nearly one million dollar project will ideally provide a much better record and understanding of the Triassic Era represented by the rock layers to be drilled. Mr. Olsen will discuss the variety of scientific reasons and goals for such a project, as well as share specifics on how this project will be accomplished.
