Petrified Forest National Park Learning Center Lecture Series, November 2007 Petrified Forest, AZ ― Petrified Forest National Park archeologist Jason Theuer will be providing an hour-long presentation titled “Kennewick Man and NAGPRA: Will the addition of 2 words really preclude scientific study?” as part of the park’s ongoing Learning Center Lecture Series. The lecture will discuss the implications of a recent amendment to the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act(NAGPRA) and the future of the scientific study of Native American human remains under these regulations. The lecture will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 7, and will be held at the Painted Desert Visitor Center Community Building in Petrified Forest National Park, located at Exit 311 on Interstate Highway 40. This presentation is open to the public and admission is free. The Petrified Forest National Park Learning Center was established to bring park visitors and researchers together to foster understanding and appreciation of the natural and cultural resources of the park and the Colorado Plateau. Lectures are held the first Wednesday of each month on a variety of topics including geology, paleontology, archaeology, and biology.
