Junior Ranger Activity Days for April 2008 at Petrified Forest National Park

Petrified Forest, AZ – Families are encouraged to bring one and all to Petrified Forest National Park to celebrate National Park Week and National Junior Ranger Day. Children will learn about Petrified Forest National Park, earning their Junior Ranger Badge and a special Junior Ranger Day Patch and Pin. In the Painted Desert Visitor Center courtyard, Saturdays, April 19 and 26, from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m., families can try their hand at making fossil puzzles, designing Spanish-style tin ware, and creating sun art. An off-trail hike will also be offered on Saturday, April 26 at 3:00 p.m. encouraging families to get their “Kids in Parks” and explore the Painted Desert with a park ranger. All activities are free and open to the public.

These activities are part of National Park Week (April 19-26) and National Junior Ranger Day (April 26). The theme for National Park Week 2008 is “Kids in Parks” with activities focusing on getting kids outside and connecting with nature.
