Petrified Forest, AZ—In November, the Petrified Forest National Park Science and Education Center presents Paleoindian Archaeology in Petrified Forest National Park by Jason G. Theuer, Archeologist, Petrified Forest National Park. This lecture will feature the Rainbow Forest Site, which represents the first multi-component Paleoindian site yet indentified in northern Arizona. Data from the site fills a large void in our archaeological knowledge of the area and human colonization during the late Pleistocene. This research offers several opportunities to examine facets of Paleoindian mobility patterns, lithic procurement practices, and subsistence strategies not previously studied on the Southern Colorado Plateau.
