Pecos National Historical Park traditionally hosts a few different special events throughout the year. All of the park's events are free for everyone to enjoy. If you have questions, please contact the visitor center at 505-757-7241.Civil War EncampmentThe park traditionally commemorates the anniversary of the Battle of Glorieta (March 26-28, 1862) with a Civil War Encampment. The encampment includes a living history camp, guest speakers, and activities for kids and the whole family to enjoy! For more information about the encampment, visit the Civil War Encampment page. Feast DayEvery August, the public is traditionally invited to celebrate Feast Day. Feast Day features a Catholic mass inside the remains of the 1717 Spanish Mission Church and dances performed by members of the Pueblo of Jemez. Visit the Feast Day page for more information. Las Posadas and Farolito WalkThe holidays are a special time of year! Each December, the park and its partners traditionally honors the New Mexican Las Posadas by placing more than 3,500 farolitos along the main trail. In Spanish, las posadas means “inns” or “shelters,” which represents the journey of Joseph and Mary to Bethlehem in their search for shelter.
