Ajo, Arizona - Beginning Sunday, May 19, 2024, the operating hours for the Kris Eggle Visitor Center at Organ Pipe Cactus will switch to 8:00am - 4:00pm. The visitor center is open 7 days a week, only closing on Thanksgiving and Christmas Days Amenities in the visitor center include a museum area with exhibits highlighting the natural and cultural resources in the park as well as the Western National Parks Association book and gift store. Rangers are available daily to answer questions, provide orientation to the park and offer suggestions for things to do. Park maps and Jr. Ranger books are available at no cost in the visitor center. Visitors are able to purchase park entrance passes as well as interagency passes in the visitor center.
All roads and trails in the monument remain open unless specified in the alerts on the park's website at www.nps.gov/orpi/planyourvisit/conditions.htm. During monsoon summer (mid-July through September), roads may be closed during the day for visitor safety because of flash flooding. Call 520-387-6849, ext 7302 or check with a ranger at the visitor center when you arrive to get current weather and road information. Reservations for the Twin Peaks and Alamo Canyon campgrounds can be made at Recreation.gov or by calling 877-444-6777.
