Backcountry Permits & Reservations

Permits are required year round for all overnight stays in the backcountry within the North Cascades National Park Service Complex (North Cascades National Park, Ross Lake and Lake Chelan National Recreation Areas). Visit the Backcountry Permits page for complete details on permitting.

The park also accepts advance reservations during the spring for backcountry permits for up to 60 percent of the sites in certain areas of the park. Visit the Backcountry Reservations page for more information.

 

Car Camping Reservations

Car camping reservations are available for the group sites at Newhalem Creek and Upper and Lower Goodell Creek campgrounds. Reservations for individual sites are available in Loops A, B and C at Newhalem Creek Campground, Gorge Lake Campground, and in south loop Colonial Creek Campground. The north loop campsites are first-come, first-served. Reservations can be made online at Recreation.gov or by phone at 1-877-444-6777. You may use the links below for the specific campgrounds.
