Scotts Bluff National Monument has an active prescribed fire program. Nearly all of the park has burned in prescribed fire since 1997. Prescribed fires are generally carried out in the spring and fall. The park is divided up into several different burn units, and these units are burned with varying frequency based on fire history, ecology, and management objectives. Recent prescribed fires:

Weather Weather forecasting for Scotts Bluff is covered by the National Weather Service office at Cheyenne, WY. There is also an automated weather station at Scotts Bluff.
