National Park Service, United States Citizenship and Immigration Services celebrate the naturalization of 19 new United States Citizens at Natchez Trace Parkway Visitor Center

TUPELO, Miss. – Today, Natchez Trace Parkway, in partnership with U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, hosted a naturalization ceremony in honor of Citizenship Day and Constitution Week (September 17-23, 2023). Nineteen candidates from countries of origin around the world became new American citizens on Thursday, September 21, 2023 at 10:30 AM.

U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services official, Robert Ivory, administered the Oath of Allegiance and passed out citizenship certificates. The new citizens stated their countries of origin in front of friends and family before accepting their certificates.

“It’s an honor to welcome new United States citizens on the Natchez Trace Parkway. Public lands provide ideal locations for citizenship ceremonies as they are shining examples of the cultural and natural resources from our heritage as Americans,” said Natchez Trace Parkway Interpretation and Education Program Manager Mandi Toy.

The National Park Service and U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service have a formal partnership to enhance citizenship ceremonies by holding them in National Parks throughout the country. The agreement helps introduce new citizens to some of the nation’s most significant natural resources and cultural heritage sites.
