TUPELO, MS: The State of the Park report captures the current state of affairs for the Natchez Trace Parkway (Parkway). This report summarizes and communicates the overall park conditions for natural and cultural resources, infrastructure, and visitor experience in a concise way for the public. Its purpose is to provide visitors and the public a snapshot of the park priority resources and values and highlights park stewardship activities. "The report also identifies key issues and challenges the Parkway faces for management planning," stated Superintendent Mary Risser. As part of the stewardship of national parks for the American people, the National Park Service (NPS) developed State of the Park reports to assess the overall trends and status of each park's resources. "As the NPS celebrates its centennial, the State of the Park Report is especially effective as a communication and education tool to help engage the next generation of park visitors and supporters," stated Chief of Resource Management Lisa McInnis. The State of the Park report is now available at https://www.nps.gov/ About the National Park Service. More than 20,000 National Park Service employees care for America's 413 national parks and work with communities across the nation to help preserve local history and create close-to-home recreational opportunities.
