TUPELO, MS: A traveler advisory is in effect for a large portion of north Mississippi and the southern sections of west Tennessee from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 am Tuesday, December 20, 2016. Freezing fog has developed, and the below freezing temperatures during the early morning hours could cause some slick road conditions especially on elevated surfaces.

The National Weather Service forecast includes the possibility of icing conditions for the parts of Tennessee, Alabama, and North Mississippi through which the Parkway passes. Motorists are advised to exercise caution when driving on the Parkway during this time due to the possibility of icing, especially on bridges. All visitors should be vigilant and continue to monitor the radio for further guidance. In addition, motorists are reminded that cellular coverage is limited to non-existent on certain sections of the Parkway.

For current Parkway roadway conditions, call (662) 680-4027 or (800) 305-7417. In the event of an emergency on the Natchez Trace Parkway, contact 911.
