Head on Collision with Fatality

Date: July 6, 2015

CHICKASAW COUNTY, MS - On July 3, 2015, at approximately12:35 p.m., Natchez Trace Parkway Communications received notification of a head-on collision near milepost 244.5 involving a Honda CRV and a Chevrolet Tahoe. U.S. Park Rangers, Chickasaw County Sheriff's Deputies, and the Chickasaw County coroner responded to the scene.

The driver of the Honda, identified as Steve A. Foster, age 62 of Braxton, MS, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The other passenger in the sedan was identified as Foster's wife, Mary Katherine Foster. She was transported to the North Mississippi Medical Center (NMMC) in Tupelo, MS with injuries. The driver of the Tahoe, identified as Cedric S. Coonrod, age 24 of Huntsville, AL, was also transported to NMMC along with the two other occupants of the vehicle. Rangers are investigating the cause of the accident.
