The Natchez Trace Parkway is pleased to announce that it has awarded a $3,000 grant to Brice’s Crossroads Battlefield Commission. The grant was made possible through the Lower Mississippi Delta Initiative. Brice’s Crossroads will use the funds to install an interpretive panel near the Bethany Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church cemetery. During the Battle of Brice’s Crossroads, soldiers fought over the cemetery and the Confederate dead who died during the battle are buried in a mass grave behind the church cemetery. The interpretive panel will enable the Commission to better interpret the cemetery’s part in the battle and provide the public with information regarding the soldiers who are buried in the mass grave.

If you would like more information regarding the battle, or the cemetery, please contact Director Edwina Carpenter, at 662-365-3939.
