Due to elevated forest fire danger, the Natchez Trace Parkway has imposed a ban on all ground and charcoal fires within the jurisdiction of the Natchez Trace Parkway in the states of Alabama and Mississippi. Containerized fuel type stoves continue to be authorized for use in designated camping and picnic areas. As of October 14, 2010, both the states of Mississippi and Alabama have put in place state wide burn bans due to very high or extreme fire dangers. Weather forecasts and fire indices indicate the elevated fire danger will remain for an extended period of time. The state of Tennessee has not issued a burn ban as of October 14, 2010, therefore, ground and charcoal fires are permitted in the Tennessee portion of the Natchez Trace Parkway. |
