National Capital Parks-East cares for several national parks located in eastern and southern Washington, D.C., and to the east of the district in Maryland. These parks protect a broad range of natural areas, spaces for outdoor recreation, cultural landscapes, historic homes, parkways, farms, archeological sites, and historic forts. Together, National Capital Parks-East protects more than 8,000 acres of land.

Permits 

A public gathering permit is required to conduct organized activities within National Capital Parks-East parks. Activities such as First Amendment demonstrations, special events with 25 or more participants, and events that require any type of set up must have a permit.
