Fort Nonsense Pavement Rehabilitation Project Begins Approximately June 14th
Fort Nonsense Will be Closed

Morristown, NJ –  Beginning on or about June 14, 2021 Morristown National Historical Park’s (NHP) Fort Nonsense area (located near the intersection of Ann and Chestnut Streets in Morristown, New Jersey) will be closed to the public due to a roadway and parking area pavement rehabilitation project. The project is expected to last three months through to approximately mid-September. The closure will be for both vehicles and pedestrians.

The National Park Service awarded the pavement rehabilitation and vehicle safety project contract to SPR Construction Corporation of Denville, New Jersey. In addition to reconstructing the roadway and parking area at the top of the hill, the project will include drainage improvements, replacement of the roadway’s timber guardrail, replacement of metal gates, new pavement striping, and new and improved traffic control signage.

Morristown NHP encourages park visitors to visit its three other locations during this closure, including Washington’s Headquarters, Jockey Hollow, and the New Jersey Brigade area located in Somerset County.
