On Saturday evening, August 19, 2017, Mount Rainier National Park will present Shadows of the Past, a special living history program in the park at Longmire. The early story of Mount Rainier National Park and the National Park Service will be told by park staff and volunteers dressed in costumes.
By the light of lanterns, park rangers will lead groups along the Trail of the Shadows as the historical figures emerge from the darkness. Walks begin from the front of the National Park Inn at Longmire at 8:30 pm, 8:50 pm, 9:10 pm, and 9:30 pm. The free program will last about 80 minutes. Those attending should bring warm clothes, sturdy footwear, insect repellant, and a flashlight.
Longmire is located six miles east of the Nisqually Entrance on the park’s southwest side. Normal park entrance fees apply.
Park information, announcements, and the Mount Rainier webcams are available on the park’s official website www.nps.gov/mora.
