The CUA Application is now available for download on the park’s website. The link is provided below. This is a new CUA Application, so please read through the entire Application Instructions including all Attachments before applying.

Commercial Use Authorizations
Starting September 1, 2017, the CUA program for Mount Rainier National Park will begin accepting applications for:
  • 2018–2019 Single Trip Guides Climbing
  • 2018–2019 Photography and Art Courses
Starting September 1, 2018, the CUA program will begin accepting applications for:
  • 2019-2020 Guided Backpacking
  • 2019-2020 Guided Winter Day and Overnight Use
  • 2019-2020 Drive-in Campground Use
  • 2019-2020 Guided Bicycle Tours
  • 2019-2020 Guided Day Hiking
The number of CUAs issued for each activity will continue to be limited under this program. Potential permittees will compete for the award of permits. CUA applications will be accepted until all of the permits have been issued. In order to ensure that the most qualified operators are selected for CUAs, application evaluations will occur at the end of each month. The park will begin accepting applications for Single Trip Guides Climbing, and Photography and Art Courses on September 1, 2017 through September 30, 2017 for the first evaluation round. The first evaluation round will review applications postmarked on or before September 30, 2017. If there are CUAs left over after the September round, there will be another evaluation of applications postmarked October 1 through October 31, 2017.
