Skagway – Klondike Gold Rush National Historical Park will host an event on September 11 to thank the many volunteers who gave their time to serve visitors and support park programs this year. The event will be held on September 11 from 4 to 5:30 p.m. at the ‘Ton of Goods’ display on Broadway between 2nd Avenue & the railroad tracks.
“We sincerely appreciate the contributions from our many volunteers,” said Superintendent Mike Tranel. “From working alongside scientists in the field to providing tours and excellent customer service to visitors, volunteers are an important part of our park team.”
The public is welcome and encouraged to attend. Cake, coffee, and light snacks will be provided. Volunteers will receive certificates of achievement and a small token of appreciation. There are many ways you can help care for your national parks, from one-time to reoccurring volunteer opportunities for youth, families, groups and individuals. For National Park Service volunteer opportunities stop by the visitor center on 2nd Avenue and Broadway.
