Skagway – Klondike Gold Rush National Historical Park is joining Skagway’s Fall Festival to share historical photos and Skagway stories on October 19.
Park staff will bring around 100 photographs from the park's collections for interested community members to browse. These photographs highlight how Skagway has changed over the years, community events and clubs, and buildings no longer in town. Not all of the images are from the gold rush. Participants do not need any specialized knowledge and are encouraged to bring photos and stories of their own to share with others.
This event is an updated version of events offered two years ago. Visual Information Specialist Kira Pontius says the event is back by popular demand. “Over the last year and a half, many community members have reached out to us, asking when one of these will happen again.” Pontius explained. This year’s event is refocused to reach people who may be new to town as well as long-time residents. “Skagway has a wealth of local knowledge and stories,” said Pontius. “We hope to encourage folks to share their experiences and think about our community by seeing some of these great photos.”
The event will be held at Glacial Smoothies & Espresso, Friday October 19th from 1pm-3pm. Everyone is welcome to attend.
