Klondike Gold Rush National Historical Park opened the 2013 Call for Submissions for the Chilkoot Trail Artist Residency program today. A call for submission is posted at Chilkoot Trail Artist in Residence - Klondike Gold Rush National Historical Park (U.S. National Park Service) (nps.gov) and will be open for artists to apply until February 1, 2013. Three artists, one Canadian applicant and one American applicant, and one regional applicant will be selected to spend two weeks on the Chilkoot trail working with visitors and creating memorable art that will enrich the park resources. This is a local and international effort to bring artists to the communities of Skagway, AK and Whitehorse, YT as well as along the Chilkoot Trail. The park is partnering with the Skagway Arts Council to host the artists, and programs will be presented in Skagway before their departure on the Chilkoot Trail next summer. In addition to facilitating programs while on the trail, the artist will also present a post- hike program in Whitehorse, YT. For more information or to apply, please visit www.nps.gov/klgo or contact Cynthia Von Halle. Art work from the 2012 Chikoot Artist can been viewed at www.klondikeletters.com. |
