The Hexie Mountain Zone is a remote and rugged zone in the south-central part of the park. It features the Hexie Mountains and Cottonwood Mountains. Points of interest include Fried Liver Wash, Ruby Lee Well, and Monument Mountain. Elevations range from ~1,700 feet in the Pinto Basin to 4,800+ feet on Monument Mountain. Backpackers entering this area should be well versed in off-trail travel and navigation.

Trails: There are no maintained trails in this zone.

Bordering Zones: Pinto Mountains, Pleasant Valley, and Eagle Mountains.

Closest Backcountry Trailhead to Enter/Exit: Turkey Flats (1,791’), Porcupine Wash (2450’), and Cottonwood (3,000’).
