The East Zone is a remote and rugged area in the northeast part of the park. It contains the Coxcomb Mountains and much of the Pinto Basin. Elevations range from 1,200 feet in the Pinto Basin to 4,400+ feet in the Coxcombs. There are no roads or hiking trails. Backpackers entering this area should be well versed in off-trail travel and navigation.

Trails: There are no maintained trails in this zone.

Bordering Zones: Pinto Mountains and Eagle Mountains.

Closest Backcountry Trailheads to Enter/Exit: There are no parking lots or backcountry trailheads within this zone. Backpackers are responsible for knowing where they can legally park. Backpackers can also park in a nearby zone, like the Pinto Mountains Zone, and hike into this zone.
