Visitors to Joshua Tree National Park are encouraged to hike, camp, rock climb, star gaze, and pursue other recreational activities. They are also encouraged to volunteer for a variety of needed work projects on Saturday morning. Participating volunteers will receive a coupon good for a future “fee-free day" at national parks and other federal sites.
Volunteers are needed to help with balloon recovery and general trash pick-up, seed cleaning and paper pot construction, and cleaning interpretive exhibits and signs. The clean-up of dumped furniture, residential vegetation cuttings, and household trash from park land is also planned. Volunteers should bring a hat, water, sunscreen, sturdy shoes, and work gloves.
