KIMBERLY, OREGON: The Thomas Condon Paleontology Center in the Sheep Rock Unit of John Day Fossil Beds will be open 10 am-5 pm seven days per week throughout the winter, excluding the following holidays:
Veteran’s Day, Observed (Friday November 10, 2017)
Thanksgiving (Thursday November 23, 2017)
Christmas Eve (Sunday December 24, 2017)
Christmas Day (Monday December 25, 2017)
New Year’s Eve (Sunday December 31, 2017)
New Year’s Day (Monday January 1, 2018)
Martin Luther King Jr Day, Observed (Monday January 15, 2018)
President’s Day (Monday February 19, 2018)
Trails, picnic areas, and viewpoints in all three units of the monument will remain open every day, including holidays. The Cant Ranch will not be open this winter. Acting Superintendent Chris Collins says, “Winter is a great time to experience the peace and solitude of the park and all that rural eastern Oregon offers.”
