Hopewell Culture National Historical Park is pleased to announce that the Mound City Group visitor center is now open for daily limited hours of operation. Every day, from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM the visitor center is open for access to the park museum and the indoor restrooms. The park’s bookstore and orientation film remain temporarily unavailable.

Beginning Friday, May 28th, daily ranger-guided programs and tours at Mound City Group will be offered. Visitors have the option of joining a morning tour of Mound City Group at 10:00 AM or an afternoon tour of Mound City Group at 3:30 PM. Additionally, a daily mid-day ranger program at 1:30 PM will offer visitors a unique and intriguing perspective on the earthworks and the American Indians of the Hopewell culture. Visit the Ranger Guided Programs page for complete information on tours and programs.

No reservations are required for the visitor center, programs or tours. Upon arrival to Mound City Group visitor center, guests can proceed to the front desk for more information or to have questions answered. Guests attending ranger-guided tours are encouraged to visit the Park Website for information on weather and suggested things to bring on the tour. A water bottle is strongly recommended during the hot and humid summer months.

When entering the visitor center, we urge guests to follow the CDC's social distancing guidelines and stay at least six feet away from other people. If you are not fully vaccinated, (less than 2 weeks past your final dose) you must wear a mask inside of the visitor center and in crowded outdoor spaces.  Additional public health measures will be seen inside of the visitor center, such as one-way directional decals on the floor to show guests the proper flow of foot traffic inside of the building.

For more information on summer daily tours or programs, please visit contact us. Visit the park's Directions page for maps and detailed directions to the park. View the park Calendar for more information about this and other events.
