The two stone buildings behind the Lower House served as a residence for enslaved workers and tenant farmers on the home farm, was constructed as a two-story stone building in about 1850–55. At the time of construction, there were about sixty enslaved persons living in various wooden quarters on the property. A unique quality in the Enslavement Quarters is walnut graining (faux-painting) detail on the interior which was also used in the Mansion’s Music Room in about 1854. By the late nineteenth century, the building featured a front porch.
