Farm Side

A historic black and white photograph of farm side buildings.
A historic view of the farm side of the Hampton estate.

NPS

The 14-acre farm landscape includes the Overseer's House, Enslavement Quarters, and a cluster of structures that once supported agricultural production. Surrounding these buildings are the remnants of Hampton’s fields and pastures that once made up 25,000 acres of Baltimore County. This portion of Hampton National Historic Site explores the lives of those indentured servants, enslaved African Americans, and paid servants whose labors contributed to the development of Hampton and made the Ridgely’s “palace in the wilderness” a possibility.
