GUADALUPE MOUNTAINS NATIONAL PARK, TEXAS – Beginning 6:00 a.m. Saturday, January 20, 2023 the Guadalupe Peak Trail will be closed to the public to allow essential trail repair work to be conducted. This closure includes all public access and use of the Guadalupe Peak Trail, Stock Trail, and the Guadalupe Peak Wilderness Campground.

Providing access to the highest point in the State of Texas, the Guadalupe Peak Trail is a very strenuous, 8.4 mile round trip hike with a 3,000 foot elevation. The peak is the most popular hiking destination in the park, with thousands of hikers making the ascent each month.

"This temporary closure will allow our trail crew to make repairs in a safe manner," stated Superintendent Eric Leonard, “in advance of heavy visitation and use expected this coming spring."
