Salt Flat, Texas – What is your best hiking experience? In conjunction with the 50th anniversary of National Trails Day, Guadalupe Mountains National Park invites youth to share moments from their favorite trail memory as part of their 3rd Annual Youth Poster Contest.
Participants may draw or paint their favorite trail/hiking experience. Have you had an exciting wildlife encounter while hiking a trail? Have you hiked to the top of your favorite peak?
All poster submissions must be on at least an 8.5” x 11" poster board or paper; suggested media can be crayons, pastels, color pencils, markers, pen and ink or paint. Entries can be dropped off at the Pine Springs Visitor Center in Guadalupe Mountains National Park (address below), Carlsbad Caverns National Park Headquarters in Carlsbad, New Mexico (3225 National Parks Hwy.) or mailed to Guadalupe Mountains National Park - Attn: Poster Contest, 400 Pine Canyon Drive, Salt Flat, TX 79847.
The winning entry will receive prizes and be featured on the 2019 Guadalupe Mountains National Park Annual Pass. Honorable mentions, prizes and recognition will also be awarded in three age categories. All youth ages 6-17 can submit artwork for the contest. Entries will be accepted until April 30, 2018; contest winners will be contacted by May 31, 2018.
