MOOSE, WY —Several events are planned at Grand Teton National Park in the coming weeks in celebration of the National Park Service Centennial.All events are free and open to the public, although the park entrance fee is still applicable. The goal of the centennial is to connect with and create the next generation of park visitors, supporters and advocates.Grand Teton National Park Superintendent David Vela said, "We invite park visitors to celebrate the National Park Service Centennial with us and join one of our several special events."Additional events and activities will take place closer to August 25, 2016, the 100th anniversary date.Please visit the park's website at https://www.nps.gov/grte and click on calendar for additional and updated information. Grand Teton Association, the park's cooperating association, is celebrating the centennial with a variety ofcentennial-themed products available at park visitor centers and online at http://www.grandtetonpark.org/. Upcoming National Park Service Centennial events in Grand Teton National Park include: Tuesdays through July, and August, and mid-September, Grand Teton National Park and park concessioner Grand Teton Lodge Company are partnering to host the Jackson Lake Lodge Centennial Speaker Series.National Park Service employees will present special programs on Tuesday evenings at Jackson Lake Lodge, from 7:30-8:30 p.m.Programs will be centered on the theme of "100 years, 100 memories."The program concludes September 13, 2016. July 8-9, New Music Ensemble of Grand Valley State University in Michigan will present "Imagine Your Parks." The performances are sponsored by the National Endowment for the Arts and the National Park Service.The program has commissioned composers to write original works inspired by national parks, including Grand Teton National Park.The interactive and educational concerts will be Friday, July 8, at the Colter Bay Amphitheater at 7:30 p.m. and on Saturday, July 9, at the Craig Thomas Discovery and Visitor Center at 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. July 4-17, Plein Air for the Park will include several professional artists painting in and around the park.A gala opening will be Wednesday, July 13, at the Craig Thomas Discovery and Visitor Center from 7-9 p.m.The quick draw and sale will be Saturday morning, July 16.For complete event information and a list of participating artists visit http://www.pleinairforthepark.org/. August 10, The Wyoming Festival presents " at the University of Wyoming-National Park Service Research Station at AMK Ranch.
