Saturday October 16th Green Thumb Gardening
Let’s get gardening! Grab your ‘green thumb’ gloves and help weed the flower beds of Oconaluftee Visitor Center and Mountain Farm Museum. Afterward, we’ll enjoy a stroll along the Mountain Farm and learn about Appalachian life in a different era.
Meeting Location: Oconaluftee Visitor Center Parking Lot, North Carolina

Saturday October 23rd Campground Clean-Up
Clear fire pits, pick up litter and remove debris for the enjoyment & safety of future campers! Put on a pair of work gloves and help upkeep Smokemont Campground during the fall season. Bring hiking boots if you’d like to join in a group-hike along Smokemont Trail Loop afterward. We won’t do the whole 6 miles, but we’ll venture deep enough to take in the freshness of fall, practice leaf identification and immerse our senses in lovely autumn color!

Saturday October 30th ‘The Deep Creep!’
Don’t be scared. Greet Halloween Eve in the depths of Great Smoky Mountains National Park! Help keep Deep Creek BOO-tiful by participating in the annual “DEEP CREEP” Litter Clean-Up. Costumes encouraged! We’ll compete for ghoulishly delicious tricks & treats. No bones about it ... This is sure to be a morning of spooktacular fun and spirited stewardship! Meeting Location: Deep Creek Picnic Area, North Carolina

Saturday November 6th Fire Safety in Daisy Town
It’s Fall, Ya’ll… So grab a rake All! We’ll work together to remove fallen leaf build-up (fire fuel) around the historic cabins of Elkmont’s ‘Daisy Town’! Tools provided will be rakes, leaf blowers and tarps. This active day also offers the unique opportunity to learn from an NPS Wildland Firefighter about fire management/prevention and the role natural fires play in the ecosystem.

Saturday November 13th ‘English Ivy Pull’ (Vegetation Management)
Work alongside the National Park Resource Management Team to remove exotic and invasive plants that threaten to dominate grounds in and around Elkmont’s ‘Daisy Town’. We’ll discuss plant ecology and learn how GSMNP ‘veg crews’ work to maintain a healthy natural balance!

Saturday November 20th 'Park and Partners Clean-up’
People Power! Come together for this final Smokies Service Day of the season! If you’re agile and enjoy a climb, join the gang at Maloney Point Overlook for a clean-up of its scenic (steep) slopes. We are also be grateful for support from those who don’t climb. We’ll work in teams to pull trash from below, passing it up along our human ‘chain’ for disposal. We will discuss Leave No Trace (LNT) and find out how to become a certified LNT Instructor! We’ll meet our partners of ‘Keep Sevier Beautiful’ and learn how they work to educate community and protect the wild beauty of the Smokies!
Location: Maloney Point (2nd & 3rd pull-offs on right, before Laurel Falls parking area) TN

Covid-safety policy in Great Smoky Mountains National Park requires that masks be worn at all times where 6’ distance cannot be maintained.
