The “Smokies Service Days” initiative helps complete much needed work across the park through half-day weekend volunteer projects. The program is a great venue for families, visitors who are in the area for a short stay, working adults, civic organizations, as well as students and scout groups seeking to fulfill community service requirements while making new friends and exploring their national park!
Each project provides tasks appropriate for a wide range of ages. Volunteer projects begin at 9:00 a.m. and last until noon on Saturday mornings. In addition, each project is followed by an optional enrichment adventure, such as a guided hike or ranger-led program, to immerse participants in the abundant natural and cultural resources of the park.
Individuals and groups are invited to sign up for any of the scheduled service projects that interest them - including unique opportunities to help care for park campgrounds, trails, roadsides, rivers, historic buildings, and native plant communities.
