Mosca, Colo. – Children and their families are invited to join the staff of Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve and the Fort Garland Museum and Cultural Center on June 6th to learn about how archeology has led to a deeper understanding of the Fort’s story.  Enjoy a guided tour of the Fort and learn how the buildings were made by making your own adobe bricks!

The event will take place June 6, 2025, from 10 am to 12:30 pm at the Fort Garland Museum & Cultural Center, located at 29477 Hwy 159 Fort Garland, CO 81133.

The program is designed for children 8 years of age or older. All children must be accompanied by an adult. Participants will need to bring clothes and shoes that can get dirty during the adobe brick making activity, as well as sunscreen, water, and sun hat.

Space for the event is limited, and participants are required to register in advance. Contact the park at grsa_education@nps.gov or by calling 719-378-6347. The regular Fort Garland Museum admission of $7 per person for adults will apply. Admission is free for all children 18 and under.

Future Family Archeology Days will be announced on the park website at nps.gov/grsa
