China Beach fire

SAN FRANCISCO - China Beach in Golden Gate National Recreation Area will remain closed for an unknown period of time pending investigation and repairs following a structure fire.

U.S. Park Police and the San Francisco Fire Department responded to reports of a structure fire at China Beach late on Monday, August 15.

SF Fire extinguished flames on the site's portable bathrooms and a windbreak structure. The main building suffered minor heat damage. 

There were no injuries. 

China Beach is adjacent to the Sea Cliff neighborhood of San Francisco. The cove is tucked between Baker Beach and Land's End. Fires are not permitted.

During the China Beach closure, visitors may use several other beaches at Golden Gate National Recreation Area, including Baker Beach and Ocean Beach in San Francisco.
