Glacier Bay Issues Two Prospectuses for Guided Kayaking and Related Services

The National Park Service has released two prospectuses soliciting proposals for guided sea kayaking services in Glacier Bay National Park & Preserve. One prospectus solicits proposals for guided day tours based out of Bartlett Cove and the other for overnight trips. Up to one concession contract will be awarded for the day trip services and up to three contracts for the overnight services. All contracts will be for a term of approximately ten years starting in 2020.

Beginning January 1, 2020, Glacier Bay National Park & Preserve will no longer be issuing Commercial Use Authorizations (CUA) for guiding kayaking services.

Glacier Bay National Park and Preserve is located at the northern end of Southeast Alaska’s Inside Passage approximately 60 miles west of Juneau. The 3.2 million acre park and preserve receives about 550,000 visitors every year, the majority of whom arrive by cruise ship.

Proposals must be received by 4 p.m. Alaska Standard Time May 31, 2019 in order to be considered for the award of contracts.
