he park visitor that died Wednesday, June 26, in Glacier National Park, has been identified as 64-year old Charles Fred Huseman from Packwood, Washington. Huseman died from bodily trauma sustained in a fall in the Rim Rock area, about a mile west of Logan Pass. Park rangers received several witness accounts of the incident, including that Huseman was hiking the Highline Trail, which is closed due to snow danger, and that he slid on a snow field and fell a total of appoximatley100 feet landing along the Going-to-the-Sun Road. On Wednesday afternoon, the weather at Logan Pass included sun, rain, hail and gusty winds. At approximately 3:40 p.m. on Wednesday, June 26, park dispatch received a report from a park ranger requesting emergency medical assistance in the Rim Rock area along the road. The park ranger arrived at the scene and administered CPR and utilized an automated external defibrillator (AED), with the assistance of bystanders. The individual was declared deceased at the scene. The body was transferred to the Flathead County Coroner and transported to a local mortuary. All visitors are reminded that winter conditions exist in many locations in the high country, including the Logan Pass area. Please exercise caution when walking on snow and be alert of possible collapsible snow, steep slide areas and changing weather conditions.
