WEST GLACIER, MT- Services provided by park concessionaires within Glacier National Park are changing. Some concessions will stop providing services in early September while others will remain open until mid-October. Belton Chalets, Inc. (1-800-521-RAFT or 406-387-5555 or www.glacierguides.com) Day hikes and backpacking: Sun Tours (1-800-786-9220 or 406-226-9220 or www.glaciersuntours.com) Blackfeet perspective tours: Various Locations end October 15 Waterton Inter-Nation Shoreline Cruises, LTD (403-859-2362 or www.watertoncruise.com) Waterton Lake boat tours: Goat Haunt Landing ends September 25 To allow accelerated fall season rehabilitation on the Going-to-the-Sun Road, the last day to access Logan Pass by vehicle from the west side will be Sunday, September 18. Vehicle traffic will be restricted on the west side at Avalanche Creek beginning Monday, September 19. Vehicle access to Logan Pass will be available from the east side of the park through Sunday, October 16, weather permitting. There will be hiker and biker access on the Going-to-the-Sun Road this fall while road rehabilitation activities are taking place, but there may be restrictions in construction zones. It is anticipated that there will be hiker and biker access from Avalanche to Haystack through early-to-mid-October. Parking at Avalanche is limited. Some areas of the road may have a gravel surface and bicyclists should use caution. Additional updates regarding hiker and biker access will be provided throughout the fall. The free shuttle transportation service accessing Logan Pass and locations along the Going-to-the-Sun Road will operate through Labor Day, Monday, September 5.
