Contact: Melissa Wilson, 406-888-7895 Contact: Mary Riddle, 406 888-7898 WEST GLACIER, MONT. – Glacier National Park officials announce that a Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) for improvements to utilities at the Belly River Ranger Station was signed by National Park Service Intermountain Regional Director Mike Snyder on June 12, 2006. The finding was made after reviewing public comments on the environmental assessment (EA) released in May. Improvements to the water, sewer, and propane systems will begin this month. The park will construct a new water intake filtration system, put in a new septic system with leach field, and install 40 feet of new propane lines. The project will ensure the continued integrity of the Belly River Ranger Station Historic District and improve living conditions for employees at the site. The FONSI is available through the park’s planning Web site: https://parkplanning.nps.gov/parkHome.cfm?parkId=61. |
