Contact: Melissa Wilson, 406 888-7895 WEST GLACIER, MONT. – Glacier National Park officials report that a wolf was found dead from unknown causes approximately two miles up the Bowman ski trail on December 21. The wolf was discovered by a park visitor. The visitor reported the discovery to park officials and the wolf was retrieved by a park ranger. It is estimated that the wolf had died about a week earlier. The carcass was sent to a state lab to determine the cause of death. Over half the carcass had been consumed by scavengers, making it impossible to estimate the wolf’s age, weight, and sex. |
