WEST GLACIER, MONT –National Park Service (NPS) Intermountain Regional Director Sue Masica announced today the selection of Swan Mountain Outfitters –Glacier Division, LLC as the concessioner for guided interpretive horseback trail rides and pack animal services in Glacier National Park. The new 10-year concession contract is anticipated to commence January 1, 2017.

Swan Mountain Outfitters –Glacier Division LLC is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Montana based Swan Mountain Outfitters, LLC.Swan Mountain Outfitters has over 12 years of experience providing trail rides and pack trips out of seven locations in and around Glacier National Park including providing these services in the park since 2007.

Concessioners fill a vital role in helping the NPS carry out its mission by operating publicly owned facilities and offering high-quality commercial visitor services at reasonable prices. The NPS Intermountain Region solicited proposals for this business opportunity from March 25, 2016 through June 3, 2016.

Proposals are evaluated and selected under the provisions of the 1998 Concessions Management Improvement Act by a panel of NPS representatives outside of Glacier National Park. The Act made a number of changes to how concession contracts are awarded with the intent of ensuring quality visitor services, protecting park resources and enhancing the competitive contract process for NPS concession contracts.Additional guidelines used to evaluate proposals can be found online at www.nps.gov/commercialservices.
